The Footnote Friend Literary Academy

A whimsical, house-led book club guided by The High Curator, where stories become shared adventures and readers become part of something truly magical.

How the Academy Works

1. Join the Academy
The Footnote Friend Literary Academy is an always-open digital reading community. You may join at any time and step into the Academy experience wherever the current month happens to be. Joining in December automatically grants you the month of January.

2. Find Your House
Luna. Bloom. Nova. Sage.
Every member belongs to a House within the Academy. The four Houses reflect different ways of reading and connecting with stories. You’ll explore each House and align yourself with the one that feels most natural to how you read.

3. Read Alongside Others
Each month, the Academy focuses on a shared book. Members read at their own pace while engaging with weekly discussion prompts designed to spark conversation, insight, and connection.

4. Participate as You Choose
Alongside reading, members are invited to take part in light, photographable weekly challenges and a shared monthly House Challenge. Participation is optional and designed to enhance your reading experience rather than overwhelm it.

5. Earn Recognition Over Time
Through participation and engagement, members may earn points for their House and be recognised through weekly shout-outs, monthly honours, and seasonal awards. Recognition is based on engagement, not join date or House size.

6. Belong
At its heart, the Academy is about belonging—to a House, to a shared reading rhythm, and to a community of readers who care deeply about books and the stories we build around them.

A MESSAGE FROM THE HIGH CURATOR

Welcome to the Footnote Friend Literary Academy.
This is more than a book club—it’s a place to belong.

A place where stories connect us.
Where Houses cheer you on.
Where magic comes from shared moments, gentle competition, and reading with intention.

I can’t wait to welcome you through the Academy doors.
